Dear Zoo: A Lift the Flap Book by Rod CampbellWhen my oldest son was a baby we had a bedtime routine of reading the same books before he went to sleep. After reading the books I would kiss him good night and he would go right to sleep. Oh, if only every child was this easy! Routines are helpful for all babies and children, and so is reading, so perhaps that's where the bedtime story ritual comes in so handy. All three of my children enjoyed Dear Zoo when they were babies, and it's my all time favorite baby book. It has animals, flaps, simple brightly colored pictures, and repetition. What more can you ask for?

Dear Zoo is my favorite too! But Brown Bear is great for a family or classroom photo book. I made one for my daughter's class last year, using individual photos with the name of each kid and ending with a picture of the whole class. They loved seeing themselves in a book!
Oh Lindsay, I forgot about Dear Zoo and I love that book. You gave it to me when Klark was born and we read it tirelessly. It got worn to shreds (literally) and I finally threw it away, one peice at a time. Perhaps it is time Leah get a copy, her birthday is coming up afterall. She needs a book to love and Dear Zoo should be it. Della loves A You're Adorable with the same zeal Klark and Lanse loved Dear Zoo. Have you tried that one?
